Fox Sports UEFA Euro & Copa América Virtual Production Studio
For the first time in its broadcasting history, Fox Sports simultaneously delivered coverage of two of the world's most prestigious football tournaments the UEFA European Championship and the CONMEBOL Copa América. To support this landmark broadcast, Architecture van Brandenburg collaborated on the creation of an immersive, state-of-the-art virtual production environment at Stage A on the Fox Studio Lot in Los Angeles.
The project centred on the design and development of a fully integrated 360-degree mixed-reality studio inspired by the grandeur and spatial qualities of historic basilicas from around the world. The architectural concept combined timeless monumental forms with cutting-edge digital technology, creating a visually striking environment capable of transforming in real time throughout the broadcast.
Utilising advanced camera tracking, live compositing, and a strategically integrated LED volume, the studio enabled seamless transitions between photorealistic virtual environments and live-action content within a single camera shot. This innovative approach blurred the boundaries between physical and digital space, delivering an engaging and dynamic viewing experience for millions of viewers worldwide.
The project demonstrates Architecture van Brandenburg's expertise in designing immersive environments that unite architecture, storytelling, and emerging technology. By pushing the boundaries of virtual production and broadcast design, the studio established a new benchmark for sports broadcasting and mixed-reality experiences on a global stage.
